LI: to identify the key historical context and events related to the Polynesian Panthers and the Dawn Raids as depicted in the graphic novel.
For today’s reading learning activity, we learnt about another connection between the present and the past about the polynesian panthers. Me and my reading group had read a fiction book about the polynesian panthers named “Once a Panther”, the information we learnt is, in 2019 there was a elder that had told the story of the Dawn Raids between the Palagi and the Polynesian Panthers, to his grandchildren. We didn’t learn that much from the text because the priaknowledge that we have learnt from the 2 previous texts connected the history of the Polynesian Panthers, pretty much covers the entire text of “Once a Panther”, but what we found shocking is that there were fictional stories based on the Dawn Raids, along with specific people involved in the Dawn Raids.
I found this activity very interesting because of learning about shameful fights caused by the new zealanders, against the polynesian panthers.
