Compare & Contrast

Today LS1 learned about what compare and contrast mean (contrast means finding differences) (compare means similarites).

First we readed two cultural stories for our venn diagram ( a venn diagram is two circles overlapping), one of the stories is from China and one as a made up story.

Next we made a copy of our venn diagram, the venn diagram is for putting differences of the two cultural stories, and the middle is for the similarites of the stories.

Lastly we finished our venn diagram and finishing reading our two cultural stories.

I enjoyed learning, I did well on finding similarites and differences of the two stories, I need to improve on my reading.

 

Proper Nouns, Commons nouns and Adjectives

Today LS1 learned about nouns, adjectives, and common nouns.

First we made a DLO for what is are nouns, adjectives, and common nouns. (Nouns are places, things, names of people, names of planets, and names of countries. Adjectives describes nouns, and common nouns are simple nouns like floors ,roofs ,walls, and stairs.

Next we talked about the information of nouns, adjectives and common nouns.

Lastly we finished our DLO’s by double checking our work before we show our work to our teachers.

I enjoyed learning about nouns, I did well of learning with the instructions, I need to improve on my adjective and common noun learning.

 

Split Strategy

Today LS1 learned about Split Strategy.

First we made a DLO of Split Straegy, even tho we were asked what is split strategy, which Max gave a amazing example, but it was a little bit confusing for the teachers.

Next I made DLO but mine was on google slides.

Lastly I was talking about what is a split strategy (Split strategy is a mental calculation method where numbers are splitted into their place value, making it easier to add them. Numbers are split into tens ones, as an example, 46 becomes four tens (40) and six ones (6). And, 33 is three tens (30) and three ones (3).

I enjoyed making the DLO of Split Strategy, I did well on my google slides, I need to improve of my work but more simple.

Making Connections

Today LS1 learned about making connections in the book for reading.

First we readed the book called “The Fishing Challenge”.

Next we open the making connections google slides to put in the connections from text to self, which there are 6 text boxes to put the connection in it.

Lastly we finished the making the connections on the google slides.

I enjoyed reading the book, I did well on reading and finding out the connection to text to self, I need to improve on my reading.

Sharks Presentation

Today we did a presentation about sharks.

First we stood up and showed our presentation in front of the class. I did this presentation with Max, Kaysorn, Malosi, Kane, Wyatt, Aarush and Mayshar. We did this to talk in public.

Next, we read our first slide, which Max talked about what are sharks. All sharks are predators and they are wonderful creatures that some people say they are the king of the fish of the world. Which is much as how lions are the king of the jungle. In the water sharks keep a ecosystem.

Lastly we read our last slide and Aarush read where do sharks live. The sharks live in the ocean but in winter they go to Fiji ,Tonga, Vanuatu, New Caledonia, Arctic sea ice. Sharks can be found in coral reefs even under the arctic sea ice.

We got scored when we were presenting the overall scores are (Not achevied, Achevied, Merit, Exellence). Our group got not achevied but I think we could do better next time. And we did this to practice public speaking. We had to have composition. (Mix of media and  the layout (content alignment, margins etc) for our presentation.

I enjoyed this task because we got to share ideas to everyone. I need to improve on speaking loud enough for everyone to hear. I did well at making my slide.

 

Kelly Sports

Today LS1 played dodgeball for Kelly Sports.

First our coach splitted us into two teams, orange and purple, for now I was in the orange team.

Next we played a game called jedi dodgeball where the jedi has a noodle and whenever one of our teammates gets hit from the other team, the jedi uses its noodle to hit the teammate on the shoulder that got hit from the other team.

Lastly the coach changed the rules to if someone from the orange team catches a ball that someone threw from the purple team, that means that the person that threw the ball is out.

I enjoyed playing dodgeball. I did well throwing the ball. I need to improve my running

 

 

Basic Facts Boxes

Today I did some basic facts boxes.

First I went on a chart basic fact boxes, and I did the whole chart which I got then all correct.

Next while I was doing the whole chart of basic fact boxes, i setup an stop watch timer to see how long it would take for me to finish a whole basic facts boxes chart.

Lastly I finished my whole basic facts boxes chart and it only took 9 minutes and 55 seconds to finish, so I took a screen of the stopwatch timer and the whole chart of basic facts boxes to put on my slides and tell how i felt of doing maths.

I enjoyed doing maths, I did well finishing a whole chart, I need to improve of learning maths more faster.

Matariki

Today I learned about matariki.

First I made a copy of a google drawing with the word matariki, I added some key words like, Maori new year, Aotearoa, The seven stars, Acknowledge, Rain, In the sky, Kaimoana, and In the brightness of the sun which is for a poem.

Next I went on the LS1 site for a link as it has a star, the star is for people to make a copy of it and make it as one of the seven stars, which is Waiti, Waita, Waipuna-a-rangi, Tupu-a-nuku, Tupu-a-rangi, and Matariki.

Lastly I finished a google drawing of my star.

I enjoyed learning about the seven stars, I did well on my star, I need to improve more of keywords that is for matariki.

Capacity

I learnt what capacity is.

First we discussed about what capacity is, capacity means something that you can weigh like you could weigh a soccer ball and a apple.

Next when we were done discussing we went outside and we poured water to the top of the cylinder then we poured water out to the top millileter which was 200 millileters.

Lastly we took a photo of the cylinder and we made a google draw and showed the number of the capacity.

I enjoyed this task because I got to learn about capacity. I did well at measuring the cylinder. I need to imprvove on knowing more about capacity.

Whail Tails

Today LS1 are making whale tails because of the decline of whales.

First we learned about whails, and why they are declining in a articals.

Next we created a google drawing of a whale tail with our names and what it means with the name that you have chosen.

Lastly we have to explain what our whale tails repusentes.

I enjoyed making whail tails, I did well of learning about why whails are declining in a articals, I need to improve of being more creative with my whail tales.
